About GeoTours4U
The GeoTours4U project grew out of a National Park Service volunteer experience leading interpretive tours aboard Amtrak trains. When COVID-19 halted on-board tour guide programs, it sparked a new question: how can Amtrak travelers continue to enjoy place-based stories and insights without a live guide?

Personal tour guides offer rich, memorable experiences—but they also require staffing and extensive training. GeoTours4U offers a scalable alternative by using the location-aware technology of GPS to bring stories directly to travelers’ mobile devices. Through the user-friendly izi.TRAVEL app, passengers can listen, learn, and explore the landscape around them with ease.
